About Grop's Guide Service

Living in Rhinelander my entire life has given me the chance to explore the lakes our great area has to offer. I have been fishing since the time my dad could get me up on a 5 gallon bucket so I could ice fish. All the great memories of fishing with family and friends are still fresh in my memory to this day.

Whether fly fishing with one grandpa and learning how to use a fly rod for catching brown trout to walleye fishing with my other grandpa and learning how to keep constant contact with a jig to catch sensitive walleyes, fishing has been in my family's DNA for generations.

I started fishing for muskies out of a canoe when I was twelve years old, my dad showing me how to cast and use baits. I have come a long way from the first backlashes, the ones you need a Stanley knife and more line in order to get back out again.

I believe fishing is all about learning and the memories. My job is to set you up for the most positive experience and memories with my lessons learned and experience in the area, and catching a variety of species.

I will teach you proper casting techniques, how to use specific baits (artificial or live), proper boat control and handling, lake map reading, and locations to target fish. I will also teach you about seasonal movements.

Let my knowledge work for you... all four seasons of the year!
